I believe strongly in Open Information - in many contexts, including learning and education. I'm learning, here, in the Open.
I try hard not to “break” things, but I cannot promise that the site will always function in expected ways. I am in the process of trying to open up comments to anonymous visitors. For now, I'll continue on.

In the history of cameras (at least my history), with constantly changing equipment and technology, a perenial question is faced by any aspiring "photographer:"

The International Standard for representing dates and times with numbers merits note both as an applicable standard that should be considered and applied whenever date and time information is presented, particularly as part of a larger set of data, but also because of some underlying utility inherent in the specified format. First adopted in 1988, the current International Standard is specified by: ISO 8601:2004 - Data elements and interchange formats -- Information interchange -- Representation of dates and times
Windows 8.1 is brand new to me. And I've just gone through a "crash" course in error diagnosis, correction, and systems management. My knowledge of Windows XP goes pretty deep, learned through the trial-by-fire of keeping my WinXP system running under a daunting load of functional software and continuous testing of new software. (I know it's time to leave WinXP, now that Microsoft has ended support. But the migration problem is a topic for another day.)
I changed the core software being used to build this website to Drupal - which variously defines itself as a "platform" and a "system" for "content management." In 30 words, Drupal defines itself in a single paragraph, with two-sentences, at the entry into www.drupal.org, as a “platform”:
Drupal is an open source content management platform powering millions of websites and applications. It’s built, used, and supported by an active and diverse community of people around the world.
